One of the biggest myths in business is that you have to spend a lot of money on new marketing campaigns to get new leads. But, there are quite a few easy, cost-effective ways you can increase your leads.
- Keep in touch with you existing customers: I cannot stress the importance of this enough. It is so much easier to sell to an existing customer than to get a new one. The more contact you have with your current customers the more likely they are to do business with you again. Think of something new he or she would be interested in, or just call to say “hello” and see how things are going. They will appreciate your effort and become your advocate.
- Be sure to ask for referrals: There are many people in your business and personal life that want you to succeed! Ask these people if they know anyone who would be interested in your business or services. Most people with whom you speak would be more than happy to help. Be as specific as possible when describing what kind of customer you are looking for. It will help if you try to complete the phrase “I am looking for clients that…”Once this is done, make a list of potential new clients. Commit to schedule a meeting with a referral once a month; this way in one year you could have 12 new customers.
- Cold Calls: It seems old fashioned and ineffective, but it is a great, inexpensive way to generate business. This is an important task, schedule five minutes out of everyday to make two calls. Better still, practice the 2 by 9 rule – make two calls before 9:00 AM. This will add up to hundreds of calls in the span of one year. Even if they are already getting your service from someone else, let them know that you are there if ever they need you.
Think about the results you can generate and set goals! Make time in your day to talk with people, those you already do business with and those you don’t. If you schedule these few things in each day, you can do so much over time. Remember: Actions do generate results!
