The Ladder of Customer Loyalty

The Ladder of Customer Loyalty starts on the bottom rung with Suspects.  A suspect is anybody in your target market. You don’t know them, and they may not know you. On the next rung up are prospects.  A Prospect is someone who has taken action (walked in, called, e-mailed, etc.) , and you have their details. At the next level are Shoppers – they’ve bought something and you have confirmed their details.  A Customer is someone who has bought a second time.  A frequent buyer who feels like they belong is a Member.  If they tell others about your business, they are Advocates.  Once they actively do your selling for you, they become Raving Fans.

Raving Fans – do you selling for you

Advocates – tell others about your business

Member – a frequent buyer who feels like they belong

Customer – has bought a second time

Shopper – has bought something and you have confirmed their details

Suspect – anybody in your target market.
